Brown's Canyon Trips

Brown's Canyon is our most popular adventure, featuring some of the best whitewater in Colorado.

The plunge through Pinball, Zoom Flume, Big Drop, Staircase, Widowmaker, Raft Ripper, Seidel's Suckhole and Twin Falls will be an experience you will never forget.

This trip is so exciting that many of our customers return to do it with us year after year. However, it is suitable for beginning rafters because it starts with easy whitewater, giving beginners enough experience in the first part of the trip so they can enjoy the eight big rapids in Brown's Canyon.

We lease a private takeout so we are able to raft all eight of the big rapids in Brown's Canyon plus all of the intermediate and smaller rapids on both our Brown's Canyon Bonus Half-Day Trip and on our Brown's Canyon One-Day Trip.

Other companies use the public takeouts - they take out at Hecla Junction and miss two of the biggest rapids, Seidel's Suckhole and Twin Falls, on their half-day trips or they go all the way down to Stone Bridge, adding two miles of slow water to the end of their one-day trips.

Our customers raft all the rapids in Brown's Canyon and then come off the river while they are still excited and having a good time.

Brown's Canyon Bonus Half-Day Rafting Trip

Acquired Tastes offers you the longest Brown's Canyon half-day rafting trip with the most rapids. On our Brown’s Canyon Bonus Half-Day Rafting Trip, we do two more rapids than other rafting companies on the Arkansas River. Other rafting companies raft 10 miles and do six of the major rapids in Brown’s Canyon on their half-day trips. They miss the last two big rapids, Seidel’s Suckhole and Twin Falls, because they use the public takeout at Hecla Junction. We lease a private takeout so we raft 12 miles and do all eight of the major rapids plus all of the intermediate and smaller rapids in Brown’s Canyon. No other company gives you more rapids. Other rafting companies schedule their trips so they can do two Brown's Canyon half-day rafting trips per day with the same boat and the same guide. Our guides do only one trip per day so they focus on giving you a higher quality rafting experience rather than rushing back to the office to pick up more customers. We focus on how much fun we can make your trip rather than on how fast we can get you off the river.

Brown's Canyon Bonus Half-Day Trip with Lunch

Our Brown's Canyon Bonus Half-Day Trip with Lunch includes all of the rapids in Brown's Canyon plus a great, all-you-can-eat deli-style lunch. We take lunch in ice chests on our rafts. Once we are in the Brown's Canyon Wilderness Study Area, we stop in a scenic location along the river and set up a buffet lunch. (We get a lot of compliments on our lunches.)

This trip has proven to be a popular choice among our customers who want to drive from Denver or Colorado Springs and back again in the same day. It allows our customers to spend some quality time along the river and enjoy a great lunch without commiting to the extra time required for a full-day trip.

Brown's Canyon One-Day Trip

Our Brown's Canyon One-Day Trip adds four miles of fun but easy whitewater to the beginning of our Brown's Canyon Bonus Half-Day Trip, giving rafters more experience in easier water before we enter the canyon. After a great all-you-can-eat lunch, we raft all eight of the biggest rapids and all of the numerous smaller rapids in Brown's Canyon. Our Brown's Canyon One-Day Trip is so popular that many of our customers return to raft Brown's Canyon with us year after year. We have a put-in at our office in Johnson Village. This is more convenient for our customers and, since we do not have to drive a shuttle to the public put-in, we are able to give you the lowest price possible on a Brown's Canyon One-Day Trip.
