Royal Gorge Trips

We offer the Royal Gorge as the second day of a two-day trip where we raft Brown's Canyon on the first day and the Royal Gorge on the second day.

For adults who want to do a two-day rafting trip, the Royal Gorge is a great choice for the second day of rafting. As the river cuts through sheer granite walls over 1,000 feet high, rafters plunge through huge waves and stupendous drops, making the rapids as breathtaking as the scenery. The Royal Gorge is renowned for its spectacular scenery and the intensity of it's rapids.

The Gorge mixes easier, but exciting, whitewater, such as Primero and Segundo, with some of the most intense rapids on the Arkansas River, including the infamous Sunshine, Sledgehammer, the Narrows, Wall Slammer and Boat Eater.

If you choose the Royal Gorge for your second day of rafting, we will raft 18 miles and include all the rapids in the Royal Gorge plus all of the best rapids in Bighorn Sheep Canyon. We raft the last 9-miles of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, stop for a great lunch, and then do all the rapids in the Royal Gorge.

We offer our two-day trips in a choice of DELUXE Two-Day Trips and BASIC Two-Day Trips.

Our Deluxe Two-Day Trips are a total package. You camp for one night at our campsite on private land in a gorgeous location along the Arkansas River. We provide the tents and cook your meals.

On our deluxe two-day adventures, we shuttle your sleeping bag, sleeping pad and personal gear down to our campsite while you are rafting Brown's Canyon. (You provide your own sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, and warm clothes to wear around camp. If you do not have your own sleeping bag, you can rent a sleeping bag from us for $12.00. If you do not have your own sleeping pad, we will loan you one.) When you come off the river after rafting Brown’s Canyon, you simply pick the tent you want to stay in and change into your dry clothes. While you are playing volleyball, pitching horseshoes, or relaxing by the river, we will prepare you a delicious dinner. After camping by the river the first night and eating a hearty breakfast the next morning, you will raft the Royal Gorge on the second day.

Our deluxe two-day adventures include two great days of rafting, lunch on the river each day, dinner the first evening and breakfast the second morning.

Our Basic Two-Day Trips are for people who want to camp on their own or stay in a motel.

On our basic two-day rafting trips, we provide two great days of rafting and lunch on the river each day. You provide your other meals, camp on your own on public land or stay in a motel, and meet us for each day of rafting.

For both deluxe and basic two-day trips, please meet at the Acquired Tastes Office in Johnson Village by 9:00 a.m. on the first day of rafting.

Rafters should be at least 16 years old and in good physical condition to raft the Royal Gorge.
